The Role

BGC is looking for an Intermediate Geological Engineer or Geoscientist to support our Pipeline sector work. The candidate would preferably be based out of a western Canadian BGC office (Vancouver, Kamloops, Calgary or Edmonton); however, other office locations may be considered for a qualified candidate. You will gain valuable industry experience working at a multinational Engineering firm, while practicing our values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.


  • Act as a project engineer or geoscientist for pipeline geohazard assessment and geological engineering design projects.
  • Participate in project management including scoping new work, proposal writing and identifying new opportunities.
  • Potentially manage projects, including budgets, schedules, staffing, and scope.
  • Train and mentor junior professional staff in the field and office.
  • Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff.
  • Regular travel to project locations both domestic and international.

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional Engineer or Geoscientist with EGBC, or similar association in the jurisdiction of employment
  • A fundamental understanding of terrain interpretation, engineering geology, geohazard assessment, field investigation, and geotechnical engineering design, combined with the ability to integrate and work with hydrotechnical, geomatics and software disciplines
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Experience in operating pipeline geohazard assessment and management, and new pipeline routing, design and construction is an asset.

Vancouver, Kamloops (BC) or Calgary, Edmonton (AB) office location is preferred. Other BGC locations may be considered.
