The Role
BGC is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical or Geological Engineer with experience in tailings management and tailings dam site investigation, design, analysis or construction support. They will work in a multidisciplinary team, leading tasks related to earth dam design and construction. The ideal candidate will gain valuable industry experience working at a multinational Engineering firm, while practicing our values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.
Responsibilities
- Act as a project engineer and technical lead under the direction of the Engineer of Record for tailings projects
- Train, mentor, and supervise technical work of Junior staff
- Manage projects, prepare proposals, and track budgets.
- Author or co-author reports
- Organize and supervise field programs, including: site investigation, construction, dam safety inspections
- Work with client representatives
- Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff
- Travel as required, which could include extended shifts at remote sites
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- 4-10 years relevant work experience
- Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
- Post-graduate degree is an asset
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as a professional engineer
- Experience in tailings management
- Experience in tailings dam site investigation, design, or construction support
- Excellent communication skills
