Groundwater is a critical component of water supply throughout the world. When professionally managed, groundwater can provide a reliable and sustainable source of water to communities, large and small. Groundwater supply studies generally involve the assembly and examination of available information, followed by site reconnaissance, and then exploration. If conditions are favorable, production wells or wellfields can be developed.

Team members have expertise in surficial and bedrock geological mapping. We have experience with air-photo interpretation; drilling, hydraulic testing, analysis and rehabilitation of wells; groundwater modelling; and geochemical analysis, remediation and dating of groundwater.

Well Rehabilitation Services
Water supply wells, particularly those tapping overburden aquifers, are vulnerable to degradation with time, this being variously attributed to biofouling, mineral encrustation and mechanical clogging. Over the years, techniques have evolved to assess and rehabilitate such wells. Such action should be taken early on in the well’s working life, and be regularly repeated so as to prevent detrimental loss in specific capacity to a point beyond which improvements are no longer possible. BGC has developed methods which, if regularly implemented, can extend the working life of high capacity gravel-packed wells, and can restore others.
